There are many things we will miss about working in North America, but the main thing will be the fantastic people we met whilst we were over there, and hopefully we will have made some lasting friendships, even amongst the people we never met in person, but just corresponded with.
We both wish everyone still working at H&R, and elsewhere the very best of luck in the future, whatever that might bring for you all.

Hello mate I for one are sad to see you go its a shame I first spoke to you before you even came to H&R we got on well and had a bloody good laugh on that mentor trip lol. I wish you and cath all the best and if there is anything I can do for you both you let me know when Dee moves over here there will always be an open door for you both it seems loads are jumping ship before it sinks I have lost a few friends now. one thing for sure I will not be the last one here to turn the lights off lololol all the best my good buddy p.s your still a northern git lolololol

Thanks for the good wishes mate, I don't think we jumped a sinking ship, I felt I was treated like a second class citizen by the company, who simply don't care if you are sitting around UNPAID waiting for loads.
I appreciate that it's a good business plan and systems are in place to prevent you getting layover pay without a fight, but it should be give without a struggle, as drivers are willing and able to work, and shouldn't be blamed or penalised (financially) when things are out of their control.
I also disliked the bullying nature of the planners/dispatchers.
Having said that, we would return in a breath if things were different!

Sorry to hear you have gone home. My wife and I came over to work for H&R on the 1st of June 2007. We had one goal, to get our residency. I worked hard, drove a lot of miles and put up with the bullshit with the end goal in mind. We got our PR after 14 months and I left H&R in Oct 2008. Im now a Corrections Officer at Lethbridge jail. Life in Canada is good outside H&R, there are good companies to drive for and work outside driving, you just have to look about. We have many good friends here that have made a good life after Hell & Regret Transport. Good luck with the future.

So to all those who feel they have been mistreated by H&R all I can say is stand up to them, it was a tough year, and nearly lost everything, myself and kids only arerived in Canada 3 months previous to his sacking as we decided not to all come out together and my husband spent a year here before we joined him. It was tough to find new employment because of the LMO situation but our determination to prove that they can't do this to people, although let me say again it was one of the hardest years of our lives, kept us going and even though my husband now has the best job he has ever had since arriving in Canada, and frustrating as it is that our PNP was stopped because of the sacking and even with the adjudicators decision of unjust dismissal it cannot be continued, just standing up to the and beating them is the best we could have hoped for.!!!
